Leave your Legacy
Placing a Bequest In Your Will
To make a charitable bequest, you can easily add an amendment, called a codicil, to your will or living trust. Here is suggested language you can have your attorney review:
"I give, devise, and bequeath to Volunteer Hospice of Clallam County (tax I.D. #91-1076440), located in Port Angeles, Washington, the sum of _________________ dollars ($ _____________ ) (or state a percentage of your estate, or describe real or personal property, including exact location) for the benefit of its general purposes (or specify the Volunteer Hospice initiative you wish to support)." |
Your bequest is entirely under your control so you may change it anytime during your life. The bequest only becomes irrevocable at death.
Gifts of Stocks, Bonds and Mutual Funds
Gifts of appreciated securities are easily donated and may provide you with tax savings. When you donate appreciated securities to Volunteer Hospice, your gift will be exempt from capital gains tax on the appreciation, and you will usually receive an income tax deduction on the full value of the gift.
Charitable Remainder Trust
Charitable remainder trusts provide for and maintain two sets of beneficiaries. The first is the income beneficiaries who receive income from the trust for life, or a term of years. This can be anyone - you, your spouse, a child, a sibling etc. At the end of the payment term, the remainder transfers to the second beneficiary, your designated charity of choice.
Real Estate
Gifts of real estate can be donated and may provide you with tax savings. Certain properties pose challenges and will be evaluated by our leadership team. Please check with us before making a gift of real estate so we can work together to make an informed choice.
Beneficiary of your IRA
You can designate Volunteer Hospice as a beneficiary of your IRA or Roth IRA.
Once you complete your estate plans, please let us know. We want to thank you for your generosity by including you as a member of the Rose Crumb Legacy Circle. Your membership allows us to recognize you, with your permission, for this very special and important form of financial support, and it may inspire generosity in others.
Benefits of membership include:
- Invitations to exclusive events.
- Annual recognition on the Volunteer Hospice website and in the annual report.
- Listing your name and "your legacy" (in 5 words or less, i.e. "Extend a hand") on our donor wall.
- The most important benefit from joining the Rose Crumb Legacy Circle is the satisfaction derived from knowing you're bringing compassionate care to anyone who needs us.
